Britains leading winter sports resort guide – “Where to Ski and Snowboard”
Snow sure, high altitude skiing at Chalet Charr
St- Luc, which together with Chandolin, Grimentz, Zinal and Vercorin makes up the Val d’Anniviers Sierre-Anniviers ski area, offers some of the highest snow sure skiing in Switzerland. Whilst each village has its own individual ski area, all are linked by a common ski pass. This provides access to 240 km of high altitude skiing over some of the most beautiful and challenging mountain landscapes. St Luc is a great place to learn to ski with an excellent English speaking ski school, whilst there is extensive off piste skiing for the more experienced and mountain guides for the adventurous. Other winter attractions include paragliding, hang-gliding, glacier walking, snowshoeing, sledging, hill walking, snow parks, half pipe and heli-skiing.
The skiing area in St-Luc rises to 3000 metres at Bella Tola and includes a range of blue, red and black slopes. Connected with Chandolin, the skiing at St-Luc is both attractive and varied with pistes following the open mountain and dropping down through mature forests to the village below. Queuing is rare, the slopes un-crowded and the scenery stunning. For 2015-2016 season a new high speed chair lift will take guests from La Foret, above the chalet, to the centre of the resort.
Grimentz and Zinal, reached via a 30 minute trip by road, provide a higher proportion of demanding red and black runs. Both compliment St-Luc and Chandolin by offering different challenges and landscapes.
