Traditional Swiss Charm
Picturesque Val d’Anniviers
The Val d’Anniviers is a magical valley with picture postcard villages, remote mountain lakes and underground caverns surrounded by ancient pine forests and the Swiss Alps. Originally small farming communities, the main villages are St-Luc, Chandolin, Grimentz, Zinal and Vercorin.
St-Luc, the largest of these French speaking villages, is a true hidden gem. As well as unrivalled high altitude skiing, plus walking and summer mountain biking, the village offers a quality of life that few places in Europe can now boast. A Mediterranean summer climate, peace, solitude, beautiful scenery, clear night skies and crisp mountain air prevail throughout the summer and winter.
Val d’Anniviers has avoided the commercial development of so many ski areas, with traditional low-rise timber buildings clinging to the valley sides still remaining dominant. New development is strictly controlled with the emphasis always on quality rather than quantity.
